TREASURE TROVE

What's New?

The days are getting shorter. I know, not much of a newsflash, but easy to notice if you're outside much (and difficult to accept if you dread winter like me).

More importantly, you may notice that this issue of the Treasure Trove is ON THURSDAY and also A WEEK EARLY. Why, you might ask?

If anyone's in the greater Wichita, KS, area, I wanted you to have a week's notice so you would join me in attending...

Wichita Authors Open Mic Night

  • When: Thursday, September 24, 2026 | Time 6-8 PM
  • Where: M & J's Coffeehouse (529 State St., Augusta, KS)

Join us for an evening of poetry, prose, and creative sharing! Samantha Barnett is our featured reader. She is the author of The Bus to Adventure City (Air & Nothingness Press) and The Dissociation Gazette on Substack.

Her writing has appeared in several publications and anthologies. Her poetry was recognized in the Kansas Authors Club Annual Writing Contest (2nd place, New Voices category). Sam lives outside of Wichita, Kansas, and is currently working on a mystery novel.

What's next?

I am exploring some "new" technology to bring us closer together. It will incorporate audio, and it may be coming to you as soon as next week, for our regularly scheduled episode.

What else?

Things you don't know about me: I am a bit obsessive. Once I ate an entire package of Di-Gel antacids. I used to steal containers of Kraft Parmesan Cheese and wolf down the entire thing at once. I spent an entire student loan playing a pin ball machine. It is this compulsion I have that helps me writing and keeps me away from gambling and video games.

I'm much more interested in you. What's your quirks?

This edition of Lost & Found is about to be pulled from shelves...

Come see us next Thursday in Augusta!

MARK LANDON JARVIS TREASURE TROVE I got sidetracked. Again. This newsletter was supposed to arrive yesterday. Thursday. Treasure Trove is allegedly a Thursday newsletter, although recent evidence suggests Thursday is less a publication date and more a philosophical position. I had every intention. Then I got sidetracked. Not doing nothing, mind you. That's the aggravating part. I was working. I've been testing advertising for my books. Learning things. Watching numbers. Making notes. Changing...

MARK LANDON JARVIS Treasure Trove NEWSLETTER It's like showing up at the beach in your dress clothes, but there's no wedding here. It's shocking to encounter school bell traffic and see so many school supplies in stores. (One of my kids has a friend whose passion is collecting school supplies--hope she becomes a teacher some day.) August feels familiar. I’m the thing that’s out of place. But what a sweet place to find myself in! Creative Cross-Training I write full-time. I've written yards of...
